    Obituary: Barbara A. Ziltner

Barbara A. Ziltner, 71 of Monroe, passed away on Ash Wednesday, the 5th of March, at Kettle Park Memory Care in Stoughton. She spent her last three days on earth with her kids by her side, and she passed away peacefully with Ryan holding her hand.

Barbara was born May 24, 1953 to Wendel (Pete) Wunschel and Selma Steiner Wunschel. Barb grew up in rural Oakley, riding horses on the farm, playing with her siblings (a set of twins), attending the Oakley Country School, and later graduating from Juda High School. Barb went on to attend MATC where she studied to be a dental assistant.

Barb worked at the front desk of the Dental Center for 35+ years which is how she became known and loved by so many throughout the community. She loved seeing “her patients.” Barb was also blessed to have a good group of friends who shared many great memories throughout their “wilder” years, both early and late. Barb loved spending hours working in her flowerbeds, boating (especially trips to Castle Rock and Table Rock Lakes), seeing the mountains and the oceans, playing with her grandkids, socializing with friends and family, and walking her dogs and granddogs. Her most prized accomplishment was being Ryan and Lisa’s mom.

Barb is survived by her son Ryan Ziltner, his husband Kyle Ritschard, and their dogs Ivan and Forrest. She is also survived by her daughter Lisa Beach, her husband Andrew, and their kids, Clara and Emmett. She is further survived by her sister Judy (Randy) Miller and brother Jeff (Marie) Wunschel, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, special Aunt, “Aunt Mick,” her Golden Retriever Allie, and her granddogs Willow and Biggie.

Barb’s kids would like to thank the staff of Kettle Park in Stoughton, crew from Agrace Hospice, and Aster in Monroe for their years of great care and love for their mother. They would also like to thank those who visited, kept in touch with, sent mail, and loved Barb as she struggled with Alzheimer’s far too early in her life.

Barb’s family will honor her with a private family funeral at Oakley Union Church. Instead of a visitation, there will be a celebration of life, Thursday, April 17, 5p-8p, at Turner Hall in Monroe. We welcome friends and family to honor and celebrate Barb’s life. A special thank you to her sister Ashley Grinnell and cousin Ashley Carpenter for taking great care of her after the accident.
