    The following events occurred on January 15, 2025:

    All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Warrant Arrest:
    At 9:30 AM Deputies responded to the Green County Justice Center to take Dakota C.J. Lorenz, 31, Monroe, into custody on a Probation warrant.  Lorenz was jailed at the Green County Jail.

    Warrant Arrest:
    At 12:24 PM Deputies responded to the Lafayette County Jail to take Adam Q Schaar, 34, Apple River, IL, into custody on a Green County warrant.  Schaar was transported to the Green County Jail, and jailed.

    Warrant Arrest:
    At 3:06 PM Deputies responded to the Probation/Parole Office, 2841 6th Street, to take Amanda L Parsons, 43, Monticello, into custody on a warrant. Parsons was jailed. 

    Warrant Arrest:
    5:09 PM, Ivan Adam Howard, 35, Rockford, IL, turned himself in at the Green County Jail for an outstanding warrant.  Howard was taken in by jail staff, and jailed.

    Green County Sheriff’s Office – 1/14/2025

    The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025:

    *All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Motor Vehicle Accident-Property Damage:
    At approximately 9:07 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 11 and State Highway 69, Town of Monroe, for a report of a two-vehicle accident.

    Investigations found that a vehicle operated by Robert Rucker, 48, of Janesville advised he was preparing to turn onto State Highway 11 from State Highway 69 when another vehicle proceeded to turn at the same time causing a collision. Rucker denied injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and his vehicle’s airbags deployed. The other vehicle was operated by Santiago Xiamina, 17, of Monroe. Xiamina advised he was preparing to turn onto State Highway 69 from State Highway 11 when he did not observe Rucker’s vehicle leading to the collision. Xiamina and his passenger, Carlos Aguilar Diaz, 25, of Monroe reported no injuries, reported wearing their seatbelts, and no airbags deployed. 

    Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed from the scene. Xiamina was cited for Operate without a valid driver license, operate without motor vehicle insurance, and improper turn. 

    Monroe PD assisted on scene. 

    Motor Vehicle Accident- Personal Injury:
    At approximately 3:39 PM, Deputies along with Brooklyn EMS, and Brooklyn FD responded to the W9200 block of State Highway 104, Town of Brooklyn, for a report of a single vehicle accident.

    Investigations found that a vehicle operated by Heather Hurley, 42, of Monroe, was southbound on State Highway 104, when she became distracted and struck a guardrail. Hurley reported injury, reported wearing her seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. 

    Hurley’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. 

    Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville PD assisted on scene. 

    Motor Vehicle Accident- Property Damage:
    At approximately 9:46 PM, Deputies responded to the N8900 block of State Highway 104, for a report of a vehicle in a field.

    Investigations found that a vehicle operated by Jeremy Moore, 42, of Brooklyn, was southbound on State Highway 104, when his vehicle experienced mechanical trouble. Moore reported driving the vehicle into the field. Moore reported no injuries and there was airbag deployment. 

    Moore was cited for failure to report accident to law enforcement, failure to provide insurance, and non-registration of an auto.

    The following events occurred on January 12, 2025:

    All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MVC – Property Damage:
    At 10:13 AM, Deputies responded to W1200 block of Ten Eyck Rd, Town of Decatur, for a cell phone crash detection call.  Keith Meier, 62, Brodhead, was westbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway, striking a ditch. The vehicle sustained disabling damage, but there was no airbag deployment.  Meier and his passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and were uninjured.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Disorderly Conduct:
    At 12:15 PM, Deputies responded to a disturbance in the W2200 block of CTH EE, in the Town of Albany. The investigation revealed a verbal and physical altercation occurred between spouses, Cynthia T Zeratsky, 64, and Arthur J Zeratsky, 62. The investigation resulted in charges for domestic related disorderly conduct for both parties being referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

  • Obituary: Brett J. Sigafus

    Obituary: Brett J. Sigafus

    Brett J. Sigafus, age 61, of Browntown, passed peacefully into God’s loving arms on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Monroe Health Services. Brett was born on July 21, 1963 in Monroe, the son of John and Rita (Rockow) Sigafus. He had a wonderful time growing up in Browntown with many neighborhood buddies to get into mischief. He was a 1981 graduate of Monroe High School and a member of Peace Church in Browntown. 

    Brett had an incredibly funny sense of humor and had a way of making anyone laugh. He loved driving semi and playing guitar.

    He is survived by his loving mother, Rita Sigafus; sons, Isaac Sigafus, Jake Heins, Jeremy Heins, and their mother, Denise Baker; and two grandsons, Jaxon and Raylan Heins. He was preceded in death by his father, John; and brother, Perry. 

    A private family graveside service will be held in Union Cemetery, South Wayne, at a later date. A memorial fund will be established in Brett’s name. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net

    “We prayed for God to give Brett comfort and peace, which he did, so Brett can be reunited with his father and brother.”

    The following events occurred on January 11, 2025:

    All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Traffic Violation:
    At 2:03 PM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding violation in the W5700 block of CTH C.  Debra K. Raisbeck, 59 of Argyle, was cited for speeding and Possession of Open Intoxicants in a MV as a Driver. Raisbeck was released pending a court appearance.

    Disorderly Conduct:
    At 5:30 PM, Deputies responded to a welfare check in the W6200 block of Tucker Rd, Town of Washington.  Amanda L Parsons, 43 of Monticello, was given a mandatory summons to court for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting an Officer.  She was released pending the court appearance.
